Movies2iPhone is a very simple video converter for Windows. The application consists of a single window with three different tabs. It doesn't have many options, but it does a good job of converting video files for playback on iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. The converter uses FFMPEG to convert files.
The first tab asks you what file you want to convert and where you want the converted file to go after the process is done. The second tab, "options", allows you to change the conversion profile and set some other options that don't have much to do with the conversion process. There are three different conversion profiles: one for iPhone 2g/3g/3gs and iPod Touch, one for iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4 and one for iPads. You can't change individual settings for those profiles. Movies2iPhone allows you to add .SRT subtitles to your converted files. To do this, you simply have to put the .SRT in the same folder as your file and make sure they have the same name.
In my testing, this converter did a great job of converting an MKV file into the iPad profile. Most video formats are supported, since FFMPEG has great format support. Subtitle hard-coding worked fine as well.
Since the last version reviewed on Software Informer, there have been a few changes. The most noteworthy ones are support for Mac OS X and that you can set the app to shut down your computer when it is done. It would be great if you could change the target size of your files or choose quality in some way.
